Maligne and Yoho National Park, Canada

Once upon a time Maligne Lake was on the back of a Canadian $5 bill but now it attracts tourists not only to the lake but the fast flowing waters of the canyon and spectacular scenery .

We drove from Jasper to Banff where since our last visit some twenty years ago it has become a weekend destination of Stag and Bachelorette parties.  Fortunately, I was not accosted by any drunken young women and we were able to visit Yoho National Park.  We stopped en-route for coffee at Truffle Pigs in the charming village of Field.  The coffee and cake was great matched by the music mix compiled by the restaurant staff.

Vancouver to Jasper

The Rocky Mountaineer travels a number of routes but we chose the one from Vancouver to Jasper through the Rockies with a overnight stop at Quesnell.

Cornwall

This May we planned a trip to Cornwall with friends and stopped over en-route in Exeter.  Exeter may be a fourth division football team but they have a church that is so impressive they call it a Cathedral.  We stayed at Watergate bay and enjoyed a coastal walk and with the help of a SAT-NAV found The Lost Gardens of Heligan.
