Picton to Wellington Ferry, New Zealand

Staying at Portage on the Marlborough Sound the night before meant rising at 6AM and embarking on a forty five minute twisting hairpin bend drive before reaching the main road to Picton.

The weather was kind for the four hour journey from Picton to Wellington.  On the boat we shared a small lounge area with a couple from Manchester who run their own luxury train service, the Golden Eagle.

Wellington was buzzing with activity surrounding the Rugby Sevens Tournament.

After a quick turnaround at out hotel we were out on the town with Chris a good friend we had not seen in three years.

  1. Lovely pics of a rustic area. Would have loved a video and sound track of your early morning, hair-pinning ride to the ferry!

    1. I will see if I can sort out one of our rainforest walks and the cacophony of crickets that accompanied us. Good to hear from you, we are now back home and have almost finished unpacking.

      1. Michael and Liz! Happy to learn you’ve arrived home and hope the unpacking reveals more treasures from the trip. Keep us posted.
