Doubtful Sound, New Zealand

The moment we cast off at Lake Manapouri the sun hid behind the clouds, the skies turned grey and remained that way until the hailstorm started.   It was cold and wet for most of our overnight trip but we slept comfortably waking at 6.30 with the roar of the boats diesel engines kicking in.

The wind picked up on our return, I lost my hat, but we did catch a few glimpses of sun although when we returned to our car the temperature was down at 8C.  We travelled back to Te Anau and warm sunshine.

  1. “Doubtful”, indeed! Scary pics of wild elements a bit too close for comfort. Hoping you were treated to steady footing, and warmth and sunshine soon after. Cheers!
